Qualified graduate students are encouraged to take advantage of the following:
- Graduate Assistant Teaching (GAT) positions. Students teach undergraduate courses offered on campus during the Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions. Students benefit from teacher training under the guidance of the Director of Basic Languages. GAT appointments offer a competitive salary along with a tuition-waiver scholarship that provides full or partial coverage of the annual tuition costs. For incoming students, these awards are contingent on the University and Departmental budget, the applicant’s academic record, and our assessment of your readiness for teaching French. Most of our graduate students receive half-time GATships for four semesters, contingent on satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory teaching evaluations.
- Exchange Program with Paris Cité. Students are hired to teach for one academic year in Paris, France at the Université Paris Cité.
- Exchange Program with Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier (UPVM). Students are hired to teach for one academic year in Montpellier, France at the Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier.
- Summer Graduate Teaching positions on campus and through a summer study abroad programs called Arizona in Paris.
