After being graduated in 1985, I went to Paris for an apprenticeship with French Playboy, then taught French at Eastern New Mexico University in Portalès. I then received a Maîtrise from the Université de Paris, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the City University of New York. I also worked as the Assistant to the Consul General of Luxembourg in New York City for several years in the 1990s. I have been married since 2016 and divide my time between Palm Springs and my husband's hometown of Bucureşti. Since retiring from teaching in 2018, I have been working on a second Master's in German Studies at the Universität Osnabrück in Germany.
