Currently I am working on applications for a PhD program. I have a specialist interest in colonial and post-colonial Maghreb. I want to explore in depth Algeria, the Algerian war of Independence as an iconic emblem of anticolonial resistance and violent decolonization struggle, its symbolism for French and Algerians. By examining the history (France/Algeria), by using literature, music and cinema, it will be interesting to question how the war of independence continues to structure political and social life in those two countries.
