ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - FRENCH/FRANCOPHONE, TENURE ELIGIBLE

Position Summary

The Department of French and Italian within the School of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SILLC) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies with an area of specialization in SubSaharan Africa to begin in Fall 2017. We are looking for a dynamic, interdisciplinary scholar and excellent teacher in the area of contemporary Francophone African Studies. The successful candidate’s research profile should be interdisciplinary and approach African studies from a perspective that integrates theoretical questions and solid mastery of texts and their contexts and might include work on contemporary cultural expression including poetry, music, novels/narrative fiction, film/media studies, theater, popular/folk forms. It is preferred that the candidate’s research and/or teaching expertise intersect with digital humanities.

This position is benefits-eligible and begins on August 15, 2017.
