Évelyne Trouillot, author of Désirée Congo and Rosalie l'infâme, will be in conversation with Lucy Swanson (University of Arizona) and Jennifer Boum Make (Georgetown University).

Évelyne Trouillot lives in Port-au-Prince and teaches at the State University of Haiti. She studied in the United States after completing her secondary education in Haiti, where she returned in 1987. She has worked in the fields of literature and education since then. In 2003, she published her first novel, The Infamous Rosalie (published in English by University of Nebraska Press in 2013). Her most recent novel, Désirée Congo (2020), is similarly concerned with representing the stories of enslaved women and resistance in colonial Saint-Domingue (now Haiti).
