Dr. Denis Provencher has been named a research chair as part of the Chaire mobilité francophone program at Université d’Ottawa for fall semester 2021.  The Francophone Mobility Chairs are awarded to international researchers who are recognized as specialists in Francophone studies and who have been selected to conduct their research in Ottawa.  Dr. Provencher will spend the fall 2021 semester on fellowship working in Ottawa and Montréal on the project “La diaspora queer et francophone au Canada”[Queer and Francophone Diaspora in Canada], which is part of his new book-length study. He will conduct fieldwork on the experiences of racialized and immigrant Francophones who are queer and living in the diaspora in Canada. He will work directly with faculty, students, and staff at U Ottawa who are interested in these topics, participating in several seminars and conferences on campus, and will interview Franco-Ontarian and Québécois writers, artists, and activists who are part of these communities.
