French Theory

French Theory proposes a focused discussion of key concepts that have organized debates on theory and criticism with an emphasis on writers who have shaped modern French thought in particular. Criteria guiding the selected texts included in this program of study are the continued relevance of individual contributions to ongoing debates within the context of our interest in the French-speaking world.  Our field of study will be interdisciplinary, including such areas as history, culture, philosophy, gender, postcolonial studies and literature. This course is intended primarily for Masters students interested in the study of literature, culture and history across the UA campus.
